If you had to pick one meal to eat for dinner for the rest of your life what would it be? Do you know it right away? No? I do, in a heartbeat. If you asked me that same question before you even finished, I would have answered. My answer would have been unequivocally and universally tacos. Tacos all day. Whenever my wife asks me what I want for dinner, the answer is always, always, always tacos. I love tacos. I’m not ashamed. But not just a specific kind of tacos. I don’t discriminate. I love all kinds. If you can make a taco out of it, I love it.
Yes, that is a lot of options. But think about it, you can pretty much make anything into a taco.
Hamburger? Taco it.
Fish? Taco it.
Ground turkey? Taco it.
Pork? Taco it.
Steak? Taco it.
Veggies? Taco it.
Dessert? Taco it.
PB&J? Taco it.
The point is, with this mindset, the world is your taco. You just need some tortillas, and you are good to go with whatever ingredients that you have in front of you. Bonus: You know I love chips & salsa and what goes great with chips & salsa? Tacos.
Now, that I have fully explained my love for tacos. I want to tell you a little about what I like to call heaven. But it is actually called the 6th Annual Arizona Taco Festival.
The Arizona Taco Festival may have been the world’s first taco festival. We can confirm nor deny. What we can confirm is that what started from humble beginnings years ago has grown into a mecca of tacos.
Arizona Taco Festival is this Saturday and Sunday, October 17th, and 18th from 11 am to 7 pm each day. Taking place at Salt River Fields at Talking Stick. While there you can taste a variety of tacos for $2 a piece. When I say that there will be a variety I am not kidding. There will be over 50 teams there competing for $10,000 in cash and presenting the expected attendance of 25,000 people over two days with more than 100 different varieties of tacos! Serving an estimated 100,000 tacos. Mind blown right?
But that is not all, the Arizona Taco Festival will have live Lucha Libre wrestling. Live music throughout the day. Contests for ‘best sombrero’, hot chili pepper eating and of course, what is a taco festival without a Tequila Expo!
