ScottsdaleRestaurants.com is run by Jake Rockwell and his wife, two locals who love eating their way around Scottsdale and the surrounding Valley. These guidelines explain how we choose, experience, and write about restaurants so you know exactly what you’re reading.
Every restaurant review on this site is based on a real, in-person visit by us. We order, eat, and pay attention to the whole experience: the atmosphere, the food and drinks, the service, and the value. If a piece is a roundup or guide rather than a firsthand review, we say so.
Our opinions are our own. Restaurants cannot pay for a review, a better rating, or the right to see or approve a review before it’s published. We share what we liked and what we didn’t, and we’d rather give you a fair, useful take than a glowing one.
In most cases we pay full price for our meals. If a restaurant comps a meal or drinks, invites us to a media event, or gives us anything of value, we will say so clearly at the top of the review. A comped meal never guarantees a review or a positive one.
The site is supported in part by advertising. Advertisers have no influence over our reviews or ratings. Any sponsored post or paid partnership will be clearly labeled as “Sponsored,” and we will disclose affiliate links where they appear.
Each review includes an overall rating on a 5-point scale, reflecting the food, atmosphere, service, and value on the day we visited. We also note a general price range ($ to $$$$). Restaurants change, so every review shows the date of our visit.
We check key details like address, hours, and website at the time of writing, but these can change. If we revisit a restaurant or learn of a major change such as new ownership, a new chef, or a closure, we’ll update the review and note the date of the update.
If we get something wrong, we want to fix it. If you spot an error, please email us at rreprops@gmail.com with the page and the correction. We’ll review it promptly, correct factual mistakes, and add a note to the article explaining what changed. Differences of opinion are not errors, but we’re always happy to hear your take.
