Those that know me know that I love Mexican food.
I love tacos. Give me all of them.
I love chips & salsa. Bring on the bottomless goodness.
I love ceviche. Yes, yes, and yes.
I love burritos. Smothered and messy. Let’s go.
Fajitas?! Bring on that steaming plate and look of envy from every other customer as it is brought nearly on fire to my table. Give it all to me.
But with sooo many excellent choices of Mexican food in Scottsdale where do you go? Spoiler. You pace yourself and make a plan to try all of them. Moderation is key though so you are going to want to spread out when/where you visit. You know Margarita on Mondays, Tacos on Tuesday, Tostadas on Thursdays and so on.
Now, without further ado, here is our list of some of the best spots to get Mexican food in Scottsdale and Phoenix for you to try. Get out there and enjoy:
Where: There first location is in North Central Phoenix, but we recommend their newest location on Thomas and Hayden.
Why We Love Them: Dilla Libre is a somewhat new kid on the block in Scottsdale having just opened up their second location. Appropriately named Dilla Libra Dos in June. Dilla Libre is not your normal taco spot. They describe their tacos as “tacos without borders” combining flavors from around the globe. So great! Also, make sure to try a cajeta-stuffed churro.

Why We Love Them: Per their site, “Carlsbad Tavern’s philosophy centers on providing guests with an entertaining environment, excellence in the kitchen and friendly, efficient service. While the sign touts New Mexican “grub,” the quality of food and attention to detail in preparation has always been of utmost importance. Many of the original and core dishes are still being served today. Favorites (Carne adovada, osso bucco, crab-stuffed poblanos) requested by regulars – aka “bat fans” – are daily specials.” We would also add that visiting Carlsbad Tavern should be on any true “foodie’s” list of restaurants. Especially for Mexican food in the Valley. The experience and atmosphere excite you walking in, and the food hits it out of the park!
