love (pronounced /ləv/)
1. an intense feeling of deep affection.
2. a person or thing that one loves.
You guessed it, today, we are here to talk about love. Hopefully, every single one of you reading this has experienced love in some form or another. Love for a partner, love for a child, love for a pet, love for a sports team. To name just a few and one if not all of those may be familiar to you.
But have any of you felt a love for a certain type of food that makes you feel, a certain type of way. Sure, you take a scoop and a bite of some delicious ceviche and are like, I LOVE this. But are you really feeling love or just momentarily infatuated? The type of love that I am talking about is the love that when you are hungry, you immediately think about it. When you are full and happy, you are not sad, but elated and just in a state of bliss.
That is how I feel about Mexican food. You know about my love affair with chips & salsa. They will always be my side bish. Figuratively and literally. But my love affair does not stop with there, it extends to tacos, enchiladas, nachos, basically any assortment of Mexican food. Last year, we told you about the Best Scottsdale Mexican restaurants for the Food Addict and today, we are here to tell you about the best Mexican food restaurants in Scottsdale for those of you that, like me, are in love with Mexican food.
Blanco Tacos + Tequila – Scottsdale
What we fell in love with: We suggest you start with the Crab & Shrimp Ceviche, then dive into some Fajitas. You can never go wrong with fajitas, but Blanco hits theirs out of the park. Pro-Tip: Order some Esquites Grilled Mexican Street Corn for the table to also nibble on alongside your entrées. All Blanco menu items pair well with a margarita, if you are looking to turn it up a notch. Check out our Video Review.
What we fell in love with: Where do we start? Besides the fact that Loco Patron may have the best chips & salsa in the Valley. They also have a menu item that will knock your socks off. I am talking about the Loco Protein Bowl. It is making my mouth water just thinking about it, and I think I fall more in love with it every day! Check out our Video Review.
Old Town Tortilla Factory
What we fell in love with: Well of course the tortillas would be the obvious guess here and yes, they are phenomenal. However, before you venture down that beautiful road. Stop and order a bowl of Tortilla Soup. Wowza! It is amazing! But we hope you are hungry because we are going to suggest the Carne De Fuego as well as some Old Town Tacos. So bring a friend and share.
El Hefe – Scottsdale
What we fell in love with: Another spot with simply amazing tortillas is El Hefe. Some people sleep on this place being a great spot for food and you are mistaken. Their tacos are some of the best in the Valley, and you should go try them. Like now, go ahead. We’ll wait. While you are there, make sure to try the Carne Asada Fries as well. Check out our Video Review.
What we fell in love with: For those of you who have never been or heard of Sumo Maya, it is self-described as “stylish, funky choice for seasonal Mexican-Asian fusion cuisine”. So it is a little bit outside the box, but doesn’t it feel good to venture outside of your comfort zone sometimes? Definitely start with the Guacamole. Spoiler, they have five, yes five different kinds. Then head straight to the Pork “Al Pastor” Pad Thai. Just trust me.
