Knock knock?! Who’s there? Our list of the Best Scottsdale (and Phoenix) Restaurants Spring 2017 that’s what! Yes, we are Scottsdale Restaurants but with a twist. The twist being that a great restaurant is a great restaurant whether it is located in Scottsdale or not. In light of that fact, some of the restaurants on the list may be found in Phoenix. I mean, let’s be honest. Scottsdale is forever killing it with great new restaurant additions, but Phoenix restaurants are also having a moment that we don’t see ending anytime soon. We are not ones to ignore that now or ever.
On the list, we have a little bit of everything to satisfy even the pickiest eater. A top 100 restaurant in the country? We got that. Food that is literally on fire? On it. An OMFG salad? You know we have it. Creative cocktail menus? We drinkin! Binkley’s new jam? We on it! The best churro ever? Nom. Great Japanese sushi? Stop. A spot that creates mouthwatering fresh fish and homemade pasta dishes? Of course, it’s on the list. We have all of that and so much more! So without further ado, in no particular order…

Here is our list of the Best Scottsdale (and Phoenix) Restaurants Spring 2017 edition:

Sonata’s Restaurant

The scoop if you like to read: Sonata’s Restaurant is located just south of Shea on the west side of Scottsdale and is a welcome unique addition to Scottsdale. They bring the “food is life” philosophy to Scottsdale Road. Using real, fresh and in-season ingredients to create traditional Old World cuisine with a touch of American flair. Sonata’s is dedicated to bringing the flavors and dining style of Europe to each of their guest’s table with every meal. – Sonata’s site

Metropolis at Scottsdale Camelview Optima

The scoop if you like to read: If you are looking for intimate outdoor seating next to beautiful water features or inside dining in a comfortable and classy setting or a beautiful bar for you to belly up to for some appetizers, cocktails and watch a game. Then Metropolis is your spot, the bonus is they also have a great and inventive drink menu and an eclectic food menu that is sure to have something for everyone.

Ladera Taverna y Cocina

The scoop if you like to read: Walking up to Ladera you will immediately notice the beautiful entryway. Then upon entering Ladera, you are greeted with an open air patio as well as a lovely intimate dining room and bar area. They pulled out all the stops, and you can tell that a lot thought was put into the details of the restaurant’s design. Once you are seated and start to peruse the menu. You will notice that just as much thought was put into both the drink and food menu items making it one of the best Phoenix restaurants around.

Beverly on Main

The scoop if you like to read: The Beverly on Main is unique in that it feels like nothing else in the area. Upon entering this beautiful establishment, you feel somewhat transported to a different time. With all that is going on in the world, it is a welcome escape, even for a moment. Their food and drinks are made with only the finest ingredients and well worth the coin. Their food menu is somewhat slept on but do not, I repeat, do not pass it up. They have some killer food items on the menu. Perfect for a light dinner over conversation or a happy hour and pairs nicely with their creative cocktail menu!

The scoop if you like to read: Virtù is Chef Gio Osso’s intimate, stylish gathering spot tucked inside Old Town Scottsdale’s charming Bespoke Inn bed and breakfast. At Virtù, the Machiavellian term for achieving excellence. Expect a wandering, Mediterranean-inspired menu that changes almost weekly. Sometimes daily, featuring handmade pastas, premium seasonal produce sourced from some of Arizona’s most celebrated farmers. Superb seafood imported from the most notable fish markets in North America and southern Europe. As well as a seasonal cocktail program crafted with fresh-pressed juices and unique spirits. Chef Osso often refers to the food – and the vibe – of Virtu as a “beautifully composed symphony of sights, scents, and tastes”. – Virtu’s site

The Gladly

The scoop if you like to read: Serving lunch, dinner, and Sunday brunch in the luxurious Biltmore neighborhood, The Gladly is the follow-up concept by the owners of critically acclaimed Citizen Public House, and was named one of the “Best New Restaurants of 2014” by Phoenix Magazine. The Gladly showcases Chef Bernie Kantak’s new American take on comfort cuisine. The stylish bar houses more than 240 whiskeys, craft cocktails, and unique ice balls available for an even more extraordinary drinking experience. Groups can choose between a 30-seat semi-private mezzanine level dining room or a fully private banquet room with enough seating for up to 60 guests. Hand Cut Burgers & Chophouse

The scoop if you like to read: Upon entering Hand Cut, you will immediately notice that they played zero games with the interior design. Located just south of Camelback Road in Scottsdale Fashion Square. The decor is hip, yet inviting with a lot of unique design features without being over the top. The light fixtures will definitely catch your eye as will the Creamery! Yes, before we talk about the beef, we have to speak of the cream. They make their own fresh ice cream in-house, and we have to say, it was fantastic!
As for the burgers, well, if locally sourced 100 percent grass-finished beef from an Arizona farm with no added hormones or antibiotics is your jam. Then Hand Cut is your spot. Dine in for a fast-casual lunch and enjoy a previously mentioned burger. Or pop in at night and step your game up by trying a pork chop, steak or one of their other quality meat offerings. Lastly, do not, we repeat, do not sleep on the cocktail menu. If you think the decor was dialed in, wait until you scope the cocktail menu.

Hiro Sushi

The scoop if you like to read: Hiro Sushi is a small chef-owned Japanese eatery located in North Scottsdale. Featuring Sake & teriyaki in an intimate setting with a long sushi bar. If you are looking for flash or trendiness, Hiro Sushi may not be for you. However, if you are looking for a cozy mom and pop restaurant with top-notch sushi then, Hiro Sushi is your jam! Visit Hiro Sushi hungry and prepare your taste buds for a treat. As we mentioned Hiro Sushi is small, so you may encounter a little bit of a wait upon arrival. But we promise that it is worth it. Pane E Vino

The scoop if you like to read: The name Pane e Vino is literally translated as bread and wine, the stables of any fine Italian meal. Situated in the shadow of Scottsdale’s well known Pinnacle Peak landmark “mountain peak” the restaurant is now well into a second decade of delighting guests. The hallmark of the restaurant is warm, welcoming atmosphere coupled excellent Italian fare. Much attention is given to maintaining professional and attentive service. – Pane E Vino site

Linger Longer Lounge

The scoop if you like to read: Linger Longer Lounge is located on 16th Street in between Glendale Avenue & Bethany Home Road. It is a great spot for games, food, drinks and some more games & drinks. Linger Longer Lounge may be classified as a cocktail bar but do not sleep on their food menu. It is not the most expansive menu however it packs a punch and a whole lot of flavor. Making it a beautiful companion to their expansive cocktail menu.

The scoop if you like to read: Located one street south of Indian School Road on 1st Avenue just west of Goldwater Boulevard. This Scottsdale restaurant is family owned and operated, and that personal touch shows. Monarch is very inviting and the unique menu consists of four courses that they change up every Tuesday. They update the menu weekly and always focus on creating a menu that will for sure knock your socks off week after week. Lastly, shout out to our favorite sommelier Sam Kawa!

The New Binkley’s Restaurant

The scoop if you like to read: The newly renovated and relocated Binkley’s Restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona, is now open and accepting reservations. The dining experience at Binkley’s Restaurant will take you through different sections of the restaurant—starting in the lovely garden and then onto the inviting patio, followed by moving to the intimate bar area, and ending at your table in the attractive dining room. The dining room might be thought of as an extension of Chef Binkley’s home and kitchen, and the warm, pleasant ambience is designed to be both welcoming and relaxing. Nonna Urban Eatery

The scoop if you like to read: Nonna Urban Eatery is located on Main Street just east of Scottsdale Road right across from the legendary Rusty Spur. Nonna Urban Eatery is a unique restaurant “where the far west meets the love of cooking.” Chef Gian Franco Brugaletta and his wife Valentina have created an impressive menu along with an inviting atmosphere at Nonna Urban Eatery. From the patio to the dining room kitchen and the wine list where every wine has a story. Again, unique is the keyword and makes Nonna Urban Eatery a must visit.
