For people in colder climates, the local custard stand or ice cream shoppe is often only open from April – October. Here in Arizona, that’s not a problem we have to deal with, and fro-yo in February is pretty cool. Now it’s summer, though, and it’s easy to justify nightly trips to the many delicious purveyors of frozen desserts in Scottsdale. Where should you go? Who has some of the best goodies? ScottsdaleRestaurants.com broke Mom’s rule and skipped dinner, going straight to dessert to give you the scoop. Or two scoops. Boom. Dessert wordplay. Here are a couple top picks to save you from the heat with a frozen dessert in Scottsdale:

That’s Amore Gelato

We’re going to kick things off with a spot in North Scottsdale you may not be familiar with. Tucked away in a strip mall at the corner of Hayden and Pinnacle Peak sits That’s Amore Gelato. If you’ve never experienced truly authentic gelato, make the drive from wherever you are. The family that owns That’s Amore traveled further to bring it to you. Don’t believe me? They came from outside Milan, Italy just to bring you this fantastic treat. There are plenty of flavors to choose from, and you can have up to three samples to help decide. That’s Amore doesn’t just serve gelato. They also have espresso, pastries, cakes, and panini as well.

The Baked Bear

About a year ago, a friend with excellent taste posted a video online. She was about to wait in an insanely long line just for an ice cream sandwich. With two young children. That tells you exactly how good Baked Bear Ice Cream Sandwiches are.
It’s one thing to bake fresh, chewy, warm cookies. It’s another thing to have rich, creamy ice cream with your own recipe. Getting them both at the same time? Wipe the drool off your screen and just go.

Alright, those first two choices are quite decadent. Gelato is healthier than most people realize, but still. It’s summer, you’re heading to Circus Mexicus this weekend, and you’re all for body positivity but… yeah. Frozen yogurt is a great treat with, ya know, maybe a little less guilt. Menchie’s has two locations in a Scottsdale and a variety of flavors and fresh toppings. If you want to know the best way to build your fro-yo, check out our video review short! There are some strong opinions on there how to build your frozen treat best.
