Carefree · 18 holes · Private
Desert Forest is a private club in Carefree. Its Red Lawrence course opened in 1962, and many people consider it the first desert golf course. It has no out-of-bounds markers, no water hazards and no fairway bunkers.
In 2013, David Zinkand, a longtime Coore & Crenshaw associate, led a renovation that added tees, improved sight lines and brought the greens up to modern standards. Play is for members and their guests.
