San Marcos opened in downtown Chandler in 1913 and was seeded with Bermuda grass the following year, making it Arizona’s first all-grass course. It’s a par 72 of 6,661 yards, a parkland course rather than desert target golf.
A multimillion-dollar renovation in 2014 added a new irrigation system for year-round conditions. Presidents and celebrities have played the course over the decades.
