The Scottsdale Culinary Festival’s Great Arizona Picnic is Back – Scottsdale Restaurants Video Plug
I have said it before, and I will say it again, we are lucky to live in Scottsdale. Especially during the first few months of the year, we have amazing weather, the Waste Management Phoenix Open and Spring Training. With a bonus this year since the Valley hosted the Super Bowl. Even though as everyone remembers, that was complete madness. Regardless, we always start the year off with a bang.
But it does not stop with Spring Training. Next up we have the Scottsdale Culinary Festival aka Arizona’s Tastiest Fundraiser! Which has been enjoyed by valley locals for almost four decades. They are celebrating their 37th anniversary this year and can say that they are the longest running event of its type in the nation.
The six-day festival from April 7th to April 12th has a multitude of great events:
Tuesday, April 7th – Opening Night: Culinary Countdown at the Talking Stick Resort
Wednesday, April 8th – Chocolate and Wine Experience at the Musical Instrument Museum aka the MIM
Thursday, April 9th – Bubbles & Bliss: The White and Gold party at the W Scottsdale’s glamorous rooftop pool. Attire: White
Thursday, April 9th – 2015 Burger Battle presented by Leinenkugel’s at the Valley Ho. Attire: Bib
Friday, April 10th – Eat Drink and Be Pretty at the Scottsdale Center for the Performing Arts
Those events are all awesome, and if you have never been to any of them they are worth checking out. But now, we are going to talk about my personal favorite event:
Saturday, April 11th and Sunday, April 12th – the Great Arizona Picnic at the Civic Center Mall.
This is where it’s at folks or as Chris would say, this is the “real deal”. The Scottsdale Culinary Festival’s signature event, a full weekend of culinary and beverage tasting experiences. But leave your picnic baskets and blankets at home. The Great Arizona Picnic completely takes over the 25-acres of gardens and fountains along Civic Center Mall with more than 40 Valley restaurants, top chefs, and live music on three separate stages. Awesome right? From a Family Zone for the kiddos to the Francis Ford Coppola Wine Garden or Southwest Festival of Beers for the adults, they have it all. If you really want to get crazy, you can hit up the North American Spirits Tour or the SKYY Bar and so much more, visit the Scottsdale Culinary Festival site for a complete rundown. As I said, just so much awesome.
But it is not all about the great food, drinks and fun. Well, it is. But the reason for all of these wonderful events is that the festival is the primary fundraiser for the Scottsdale League for the Arts, whose members and staff work all year to present the festival. Never heard of the Scottsdale League for the Arts? For shame! The League’s mission is to support artists, art programs, and arts education through fundraising and special events. Since 2002, the League has donated over $4 million to arts organizations in Arizona. Yes, you read that correctly, $4 million! So make sure to come out and support the arts and culinary scene and know that when you do you are supporting a great cause!
Please check out the brief video above to see what you can expect if you attend the Great Arizona Picnic and we hope see you there!
