When you’re yearning for a taste of the tropics in the heart of Phoenix or Scottsdale, Hula’s Modern Tiki is the place to be. With an overall rating of 4.4, it’s easy to see why this restaurant has won the hearts of locals and visitors alike. Last night, I embarked on a culinary journey to Hula’s and found myself captivated by the exotic flavors, tropical atmosphere, and friendly service. Whether you’re in the mood for tropical fusion or just looking for some of the best casual dining in Phoenix, Hula’s Modern Tiki is sure to satisfy.

Ambiance, Food, and Drinks

As you step into Hula’s Modern Tiki, you’re instantly transported to a Polynesian paradise. The vibrant tiki decor, bamboo accents, and the soothing sounds of Hawaiian music set the stage for a memorable dining experience. The ambiance, while a bit on the crowded side, still exudes an inviting and laid-back island charm.

Hula’s Modern Tiki prides itself on serving up fantastic food, and it certainly lives up to its reputation. The menu boasts an array of mouthwatering options, from classic tiki fare to inventive fusion dishes. The Kalbi ribs, which I ordered, were delicious. Tender and flavorful, they melted in my mouth, leaving me craving more. Served with rice and macaroni salad, this dish was a perfect harmony of smoky grill and Korean BBQ flavors, and at $18, it was well worth the price.

My dining companion opted for the shrimp tacos, and it’s safe to say he made an excellent choice. The combination of succulent shrimp and fresh, zesty toppings earned these tacos a well-deserved thumbs up.

When it comes to drinks, Hula’s serves up classic tiki concoctions that lean toward the sweet side. The mai tai was good, but the real winner was the painkiller with a dark rum float – a must-try for those seeking a unique and delightful tropical drink. Prices are reasonable, with most cocktails falling in the $10-12 range.

Dessert Delights

A meal at Hula’s wouldn’t be complete without dessert. We decided to order dessert to go and were in for a sweet surprise. The coconut cream pie was a hit, with a generous portion that could easily satisfy your sweet tooth. My choice, the key lime pie, was a revelation. The graham cracker crust was a delight, and the lime whipped cream added a delightful twist to this classic dessert. At around $7 per slice, these desserts are a must-try, and you won’t be sharing!

External Reviews

I also wanted to check what other diners had to say about Hula’s Modern Tiki, and the reviews on various platforms were consistently positive.
