Barrio Queen’s Gilbert location is at 388 N Gilbert Rd in the Heritage District, part of a Valley chain with locations from Old Town Scottsdale to Queen Creek. The idea is traditional recipes from neighborhoods across Mexico, served in a loud, colorful room. It works for a casual dinner with friends or the family.

The Room

The decor is Día de los Muertos throughout, and it’s a social, energetic space rather than a quiet one. There’s an indoor dining room and an outdoor patio, plus a private room for larger groups. Parking is in a private lot.

The Menu

The signature is the Barrio guacamole, and the menu runs through nachos layered with pork green chile and Oaxaca cheese, salads, a chicken and chipotle soup called Caldo Tlalpeño, a beef-and-chorizo Fundido burger and burritos like the Azteca brisket and the Arizona green chile pork. There’s a big tequila and mezcal list behind the bar. There are separate lunch, happy hour and kids menus, so it’s an easy pick for a mixed group.

Hours

Opens at 11 a.m. every day and closes around 10 p.m., with later hours on Friday and Saturday on some listings. Call ahead if you’re planning a late weekend dinner. They take reservations, offer takeout and catering, and have a daily happy hour.

Who It’s For

Families, friends, and anyone who wants Mexican food in Downtown Gilbert without leaving the main strip. The patio is the place to sit when the weather’s nice. If you’ve been to the Scottsdale location, expect the same concept in a newer space.
