The White Rabbit sits below the Heritage Court building at 207 N Gilbert Rd, right in the middle of Downtown Gilbert. It bills itself as Gilbert’s first speakeasy, and it plays the part: you need this month’s password to get in, and you have to find the door. It’s a date-night spot more than a dinner spot, built around cocktails and small bites.
The entrance is on the south wall of the Heritage Court building, along Cullumber Ave. Look for the red light. The password changes every month, and the bar sends it to people on its VIP email list, which you can join at twr.bar. Walk-ins are welcome, and you can also reserve on OpenTable for groups of up to 10.
Inside it’s dark, low-lit and vintage, with the bar’s backstory leaning into a 1920s doctor who supposedly ran an apothecary that “prescribed” drinks during Prohibition. It’s small and intimate on a weeknight and gets packed on Friday and Saturday nights, so plan ahead if you’re going late in the week. There’s live music every Wednesday. The listed dress code is business casual.
Drinks are the main event here, with a long list of Prohibition-era style cocktails plus spirits, beer and wine. The food menu is small plates meant for sharing: things like soft pretzels, queso, hummus, charcuterie boards, flatbreads and desserts. Think of it as somewhere for a snack and a drink before or after dinner, not a full meal.
Open nightly from 5 p.m. It closes at 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and at midnight on Friday and Saturday. Happy hour runs 5 to 7 p.m. Parking is in the public lots around the Heritage District.
Couples looking for a fun date night, friends who want something different from the usual Gilbert Road patios, or anyone showing out-of-town guests around downtown. If you want a full dinner, eat first at one of the places nearby and come here after. Sign up for the email list before you go so you’re not stuck outside without the password.
