Fountain Hills is a small town, and that’s a big part of why we like eating there. A lot of the best spots sit right around Fountain Park, so dinner and a walk by the lake go together easily. Sherrie and I have eaten our way through a good chunk of the town over the last couple of years, and these are the places we’ve actually sat down at and reviewed.
Every restaurant below links to our full review, with what we ordered, what it cost and how we rated it. If you only have time for one meal, jump to the quick picks.
This one jumped to the top of our list fast. We ended up at Streets of New York twice in one week, with our dog both times. It moved to a new spot right on Fountain Park, and the pet-friendly patio looks straight out at the fountain, which goes off every hour for about 15 minutes. Time your lunch for the top of the hour.
The lunch specials are where the value is. The half sub and garden salad special came in under $10 and both portions were big, and the slice-and-wings combo was a solid second-visit order. Our server even remembered our dog’s name the second time around. We gave it a 4.7.

Sapori D’Italia is our pick when we want a sit-down Italian dinner without driving into Scottsdale. It’s family-owned, the room is cozy with rustic decor and soft lighting, and it works for a date night or dinner with friends.
The menu runs from wood-fired pizzas and handmade pasta to steaks. The eggplant parmigiana and lasagna are the dishes we’d point you to first, the Caesar salad is better than it needs to be, and the bacon fig cheesecake is worth saving room for. We rated it 4.3.
Pietro’s is intimate and unpretentious, with warm, rustic decor and good cocktails. Sherrie and I started with drinks and the fried calamari. The service was attentive and the pricing was more reasonable than we expected for the quality. Also a 4.3 from us.

Oka is modern and clean inside, with a long sushi bar and a faux sakura blossom tree that makes the room feel bright. It’s a calm room, not a loud one.
At lunch, the bento boxes are a great portion for the price, and the sashimi salad is generous. For rolls, start with the Spicy Tuna Crunch and the Coconut Shrimp roll, and the gyoza are a good add-on. We gave Oka a 4.3.

When there’s a game on, this is where we’d go. There are plenty of TVs inside, but the real draw is the dog-friendly patio facing the lake and the fountain.
The menu is better than typical bar food. The charred corn chopped salad (add the grilled chicken) and the Philly cheesesteak were the standouts for us, and the Cajun shrimp pasta has a nice bit of heat. It’s not fancy, and we rated it 3.4, but it’s easy and relaxed and works for families.

Euro Pizza Cafe’s outdoor seating sits right by the fountain, so you get the hourly show with your meal. The menu goes well past pizza, with calzones, salads, seafood, chicken dishes and homemade soups, and there’s a full bar.
If you’re getting pizza, the Euro Special with gyro meat is the one to try, and the Hercules is a crowd favorite. We gave it a 3.6. It’s a fun stop on a nice evening more than a destination meal.

Phil’s has been feeding Fountain Hills for over two decades. The walls are covered in Coca-Cola memorabilia and the menu has more than 200 items, so nobody leaves without finding something.
Go for the wings and the chicken strips. The portions are big and it’s comfort food, not gourmet, which is exactly the point. It earned a 3.4 from us. It’s a good, easy pick for families or a casual lunch.
Most of these are within a few minutes of Fountain Park, so it’s easy to pair dinner with a walk around the lake. The fountain runs every hour on the hour for about 15 minutes, weather permitting, and the patios at Streets of New York, Euro Pizza Cafe and All American Sports Grill are the best seats in town for it.
