When it’s just the two of us, Old Town is usually where Sherrie and I end up. You can park once, walk to dinner, and stroll around after. These are the Old Town restaurants we’d book for a date night, sorted by the kind of evening you’re after. We’ve reviewed every one of them, and in late October 2026 we checked that each is still open and looked up its current hours.
Chef Charleen Badman’s farm-to-table restaurant on 5th Avenue is the one we recommend most to couples who care about the food first. The menu is built for sharing: when we went, the stuffed squash, salmon rillettes, sea bass and a pork tenderloin with peaches were the highlights, and the Hibiscus Big Marble is a great non-alcoholic pick. Dinner is Tuesday to Saturday, 5 to 10pm; it’s closed Sundays and Mondays. Read our FnB review.

Just along 5th Avenue from FnB, with warm lighting and comfort food that’s a step up: the smoky harissa meatballs, coffee-rubbed short ribs and corvina sea bass are what we’d order again. It’s open daily from 4 to 10pm, with social hour from 4 to 6. We gave it a 4.4. Read our Citizen Public House review.

A crackling fire, two porches and a burger big enough to split. The filet, cedar plank salmon and mashed potatoes are worth ordering too. It’s dinner only these days: Sunday to Thursday 4 to 9pm, Friday and Saturday until 10. If you’re celebrating something, mention it when you book. We gave it a 4.2. Read our Roaring Fork review.

Dark, candlelit and romantic, with guacamole made tableside from a molcajete cart. We’d add the street corn, the Tecate-battered fish tacos, and the roasted pork shoulder for two if you’re hungry. It’s open Sunday to Thursday 11am to 10pm, and until 11 on Friday and Saturday. Our rating: 4.0. Read our Mission review.

The night-out pick: a modern Mexican steakhouse with a swanky room. When we went there were fire dancers, and the short rib enchiladas and fried sea bass tacos are the dishes people rave about. It’s open Monday to Thursday 5 to 11pm, Friday 5pm to 1am, Saturday 11am to 1am and Sunday 11am to 11pm. We gave it a 4.1. Read our Toca Madera review.

An intimate omakase counter, and the most special meal on this list. Founding chef Shinji Kurita left in December 2023, and Chef Ken Tanaka now leads the kitchen. According to ShinBay’s site, there are two seatings (5:45 and 8pm) Wednesday to Sunday, dinner is $285 per person before drinks and tax, and you’ll need a card to reserve, with cancellation fees inside 48 hours. We gave it a 4.5. Read our ShinBay review.

A dim, plush steakhouse at the Scottsdale Waterfront. The filet mignon, French onion soup and coconut cream pie are what we remember. Dinner starts at 5pm (4:30 on Friday and Saturday), and there’s Sunday brunch too. We gave it a 4.2. Read our Maple & Ash review.
Where: 7135 E Camelback Rd, Suite 130. mapleandash.com
Same Waterfront address as Maple & Ash, with one of the nicest patios in Old Town once the weather cools off. We’d start with the bacon-wrapped dates and a bruschetta, then share the sea scallops. Hours are Monday to Thursday 11am to 10pm, Friday 11 to 11, Saturday 10 to 11 and Sunday 10 to 10. Park in the Nordstrom or Waterfront garage. We gave it a 4.3. Read our Olive & Ivy review.

One we’ll miss: Sel on Main Street closed for good in summer 2026, after ten years.
For us it’s a tie between The Mission for its candlelit room and FnB for the food. If it’s a once-a-year occasion, ShinBay‘s omakase counter is in its own category.
Citizen Public House, Roaring Fork, The Mission, Toca Madera, Maple & Ash and Olive & Ivy are all open on Mondays. FnB is closed Sundays and Mondays, and ShinBay seats Wednesday to Sunday.
Olive & Ivy has the big Waterfront patio, and Roaring Fork has two porches.
No. Sel on Main Street closed permanently in 2026.
